What to say on comms: a script for beginners
CONFIRMEDWinning & Teamplayderived from CONFIRMED mechanics; the wording is the chapter's, the behaviours are sourcedany, squad-leaderpatch risk low

You do not need to be good at talking. You need to say five things. Random players in WARDOGS reliably revive you and fly you to the hotzone when asked, and do it well, because they are paid for doing it well.

Step by step

  1. On proximity, to strangers: "Medic on me, I've got a resuscitator in my bag." Stodeh's tip: advertising that you carry a revive tool makes people want to pick you up, because they can use your item on you and keep their own. Say it before you go down if you can. If you are the medic, say it the other way round: call out to the teammate you are about to heal, so they do not burn their own bandages and the heal credit stays yours (RageGamingVideos).
  2. "Any pilot at spawn, I need a lift to the zone." There is almost always a pilot picking people up. This is faster and cheaper than driving.
  3. "What do you need?" to anyone with a vehicle or a crate. DemoMan0351's whole logistics economy runs on knowing what is in demand, and the only way to know is to ask. Then deliver it and get paid. RageGamingVideos gives drivers the same rule from the other side: find out in text chat who is building and ask what they need, building supplies or ammo for their anti-air and mortars. If nobody answers, open the map and hover the FOB icon to see which supply is low, and bring that. A delivery someone asked for is far more likely to be bought.
  4. "Tower three captured, my digit is seven." The code is split one digit per tower and it is useless until someone collates it. Post yours the moment you capture.
  5. "Contact, two red, north side of the container yard, hundred metres." Direction, count, landmark, range. That is enough.
  6. On squad voice, add: where you are going before you go there, and whether you are pulling the hotzone. Every drill activation brings heat; your squad should know it is coming.

Numbers

Five things to say on proximity, plus one on squad voice.

Why it works

CAMIKAZE78 says he has never seen this level of cooperation among randoms in any shooter, because they are paid for doing it well. So asking works here in a way it does not elsewhere. For organised play, Get Gud with Garen runs two comms layers: in-game squad VOIP for the squad, plus a separate out-of-game command channel on Discord where squad leaders talk to each other. That is standard combined-arms practice imported from Squad, and it is what large community operations use. Builders can go a step further and recruit their own logistics: RageGamingVideos finds the pilots and truck drivers, talks to them directly and gets them supplying his FOB. Both sides are paid, which is why the arrangement holds.

Where it falls apart

PC Gamer's mic-discipline warning is about revives specifically, and the general rule is that anything tactical said on proximity is said to the enemy too. Do not call your flank on proximity. Do not announce that you are the only one left.

Creating or joining a squad
CONFIRMEDWinning & Teamplay5 creators + AllThings.howany, squad-leaderpatch risk low

Squad membership is the single cheapest upgrade available to a solo player. It costs nothing, takes four seconds, and converts you from an isolated body into someone with a map and a radio.

Step by step

  1. Press Escape in a match. Not Tab. Tab is inventory and scoreboard.
  2. Choose CREATE SQUAD, or click "create or join" and pick an existing squad. Squads get automatic NATO callsigns and show a lock icon if closed.
  3. You immediately get two things: squadmates visible on your map, and a private voice channel.

Numbers

There is no published squad size cap. DemoMan0351 says there is no size limit; CAMIKAZE78 says the same and adds that server browsers let you stack a server with as many friends as you want; wardogswiki.com says the limit is unpublished and notes "unusually large squads" in tests. Practically this means a 20-person community operation can run in one squad channel rather than splitting across fireteams.

Why it works

Squad membership costs nothing, takes four seconds, and converts you from an isolated body into someone with a map and a radio. Maplewood (7 Sep) says join the biggest squad available and found no downside: squad chat is a radio channel the enemy cannot hear, and your revive requests show to squadmates from further away, so you get picked up more often. He also asks players to push their team into squads, because squad uptake makes the whole team more cohesive.

Where it falls apart

Squad voice being private also means non-squad teammates cannot hear you. If you are the person who knows where the enemy tank is, that information needs to go on proximity or on a map marker, not into a four-person squad channel.

Read this first: bug abuse is bannable, and the fair-play key
CONFIRMEDWinning & Teamplayofficial Security and Enforcement policy, wardogs.com, last updated 7 Sep 2026anypatch risk low

WARDOGS' official Security and Enforcement policy states that "deliberately exploiting bugs, glitches, or unintended behavior for advantage" may result in suspension or ban.

Step by step

  1. HARMLESS QUIRK: odd behaviour, no advantage, or purely defensive knowledge.
  2. CLEVER PLAY: uses a real mechanic well. Safe to use; may still be rebalanced.
  3. GREY: probably unintended, no clear victim, likely to be patched. Use knowingly.
  4. BUG ABUSE: clearly unintended, gives a hard advantage or grief potential. Do not do it.
  5. PATCHED: no longer works.

Numbers

Enforcement tiers are temporary suspension, permanent account ban (which may extend to other Bulkhead games), and hardware ban. Only permanent account bans can be appealed; suspensions and hardware bans are final.

Why it works

Season 1 also added report tracking, weighted reports, in-server ban announcements, and changed the "kicked from server" kill-feed message so it now means an actual ban. The developer has already demonstrated willingness to patch exploits directly: the church roof, the potato-shadow visibility trick, the tank DPI advantage and the supply-crate XP farm were all closed in a single patch.

Where it falls apart

Several entries in the register will be patched, and a few could get your account actioned. The fair-play column is this guide's judgement, not a promise.

Short answer: no confirmed mechanical difference exists
CONFIRMEDWinning & TeamplayCONFIRMED as *unannounced* (FandomWire, wardogswiki.com, WARDOGS Hub all agree; official wiki Factions category is empty)anypatch risk low

The three factions are Lonestar (blue, Western private contractors, Texan framing), Valkyra (red, Soviet restorationists) and Manticore (green, Persian shadow army, Tehran-based). No confirmed mechanical difference between them exists.

Numbers

Three factions. Free starter rifles: Valkyra the A-91, Manticore the KH-2002, Lonestar the T-21 or Bushmaster.

Why it works

wardogswiki.com states it most precisely: no confirmed information gives Valkyra, Lonestar or Manticore exclusive weapons, vehicles, starting cash, passive income, movement modifiers, spawn rules, role limits, progression tracks or statistical advantages. FandomWire: "there is no reason for anyone to pick a side for practical reasons, as there are no faction-exclusive weapons or abilities." WARDOGS Hub is blunter and more honest: on whether factions play differently, "nobody knows, and that is the honest answer."

Where it falls apart

The one confirmed asymmetry is cosmetic and per-faction: each has its own free starter rifle. The wiki's T-21 page carries the same "mass produced and battle-scarred recruit rifle" description; Supporter camos name Bushmaster for Lonestar. These are described identically as free, unattachable recruit rifles, so this is flavour rather than balance.

Getting to the zone
CONFIRMEDWinning & Teamplay4 creators + PC Gameranypatch risk low

Never run from HQ to the control zone. It is about 3 km and takes 4-5 minutes by car depending on the vehicle. Take a helicopter.

Step by step

  1. Helicopter. There is almost always a pilot picking people up at spawn. If you distrust their flying, bail out as soon as they are near the zone. Maplewood's rule for when to jump: watch the minimap and exit the moment you reach the zone, over your own faction's quarter of the map (the side your base is on), which is usually clear of enemies.
  2. The APC / spawn vehicle, once it exists (20 points) and is parked in the zone.
  3. Ground vehicle. Last resort, and slow.
  4. On foot. Never, from HQ.

Numbers

~3 km HQ to zone; 4-5 minutes driving (PC Gamer); spawn vehicle exists from 20 points.

Why it works

The broader map is the same every match but the control zone sits in a slightly different place each time.

Spot payouts pay regardless of who kills the target, including enemy factions killing each other, and even when the spot has visually lapsed. Targets can be re-spotted up to three times back to back and pay each time. A spotted helicopter that crashes into a tree with no shots fired still pays the spotter.

Numbers

Up to three back-to-back re-spots, each paying. Beta. Open.

Why it works

Blanket-spot everything constantly; you are paid passively for outcomes you had no part in.

Where it falls apart

Fair play: CLEVER PLAY. Strongly corroborated and consistent with the design intent that spotting is underused. But the pay-for-enemy-on-enemy-kills and the triple-spot stacking both read as unintended generosity and are prime nerf candidates.

Numbers

Three rounds in quick succession. Beta. Open.

Why it works

C to cancel the cam; reload inside the cutscene.

Where it falls apart

Fair play: GREY. Being allowed to reload inside a cinematic reads like an oversight rather than intended pacing; the extractor flagged it as such. The C-skip itself is a normal quality-of-life binding.

Numbers

Where it falls apart

Fair play: CLEVER PLAY. It is a real asymmetry in the payout rules and there is no victim, but three creators independently calling it out is how things get patched.

Prevention, from Hudi (9 Sep): if you played either beta or a playtest, uninstall it and reboot before installing the release, because stale anti-cheat drivers caused anti-cheat to refuse the game executable in beta 2, and keep at least 50 GB free. Graphics: performance and the shadow clamp
CONFIRMEDWinning & TeamplaySeason 1 changelog + official wiki + 7 creatorsanypatch risk mediumpatched

The four settings TheTacticalBrit says matter for frame rate, in order of impact: shadows (biggest win, goes as low as "potato"), view distance, global illumination (turn it off; he calls it a universal FPS rule), reflections (extremely system-taxing).

Numbers

View distance caps at 1 km. Helicopters de-render at roughly 1,000 m. 32:9 ultrawide pushes the UI to the far edges; players have asked for a "confine UI to 2560x1440" option.

Why it works

The potato-shadow exploit is closed. Players were selecting the lowest preset to remove shadows and gain a visibility advantage rather than for performance. Season 1 clamps shadow quality to Low if your hardware benchmarks well. Genuinely weak machines can still turn shadows off for frames. Molixatus reads this, with the tank DPI fix and the turret rotation speed cap, as a deliberate patch theme: closing advantages that came from your hardware and settings rather than your skill.

Where it falls apart

View distance caps at 1 km. This is both a graphics ceiling and a hard engagement ceiling. Building an anti-air or sniper position more than 1 km from the action means you literally cannot see the targets. AquaFPS's group independently hit the same wall from the other side: helicopters de-render at roughly 1,000 m and a de-rendered target cannot be engaged. Upscaling: both DLSS and FSR are available and both look good; TheTacticalBrit runs DLSS Quality or DLAA (native). Season 1 made DLSS frame generation toggleable without restarting, so test it in-session; opinion is split. Known display gaps: no HUD scale or position option; picture-in-picture scopes have a rendering fault, and the workaround is to disable PIP, which both Overgear and games.gg recommend regardless. Where the creators disagree: IceManIsaac's Season 1 settings video (11 Sep) agrees on Global Illumination off, Reflections Low, DLSS Quality and PIP scopes off, but disagrees on two of TheTacticalBrit's four. He measured View Distance as cheap and keeps it High, and he runs Shadows on Medium because Low switches between sharp and blocky over a short distance. On a weak GPU follow TheTacticalBrit on shadows; on a mid-range card or better, Medium is the better-looking trade, and the Season 1 clamp may not offer you the lowest tier anyway. See the full graphics profile card. Maplewood (7 Sep, beta build) runs mostly Medium and Low, lowers foliage for performance and visibility, turns motion blur off, and only lowers texture detail if you are short of VRAM, which matches IceManIsaac's 8GB threshold. His point that an all-Low setup makes people easier to spot is exactly what the Season 1 shadow clamp targeted, so expect less of that edge now. GhostGaming (10 Sep) reads the clamp the same way as Molixatus: a rig that benchmarks well always casts some shadow, while very old hardware keeps the full Potato option.

The hotzone doubles everything
CONFIRMEDWinning & Teamplay7 creators plus MetaForge and Overgear; Hudi, Maplewood and RageGamingVideos (Season 1 build) add three moreanypatch risk medium

Inside the yellow hotzone circle you count as two players for the score tick, and every cash and XP payout doubles. Kills, revives, heals, builds, spots, redeploys, drop-offs, supply sales. Everything.

Numbers

2x scoring presence; 2x cash; 2x XP. Beta per-tick figures from Wardogs Zone: $160 [BETA] in the control zone, $320 [BETA] in the hotzone, on a 22-second cash tick, plus $250 [BETA] for entering the control zone. Legacy Gaming independently reports "roughly 160 cash every few seconds". Beta revive payouts scale the same way: $400 [BETA] in the open, $800 [BETA] in the control zone, $1,600 [BETA] in the hotzone. On the Season 1 build RageGamingVideos (11 Sep) puts a kill at about $1,500 [S1] outside the zone and about $3,000 [S1] inside the hotzone, and reports the same $320 [S1] hotzone presence tick, which suggests the beta tick survived launch. The 2x multiplier itself is the reliable part.

Why it works

The multiplier is why objective play and money-making are the same activity in this game. There is no tension between "help the team" and "get rich". Whatever your method is, relocating it into the hotzone doubles it.

Where it falls apart

The multiplier cuts both ways. DemoMan0351 says kills outside the operating area are worth substantially less, with artillery tanks as the exception (north of $10,000 [BETA] wherever you kill them). And the hotzone is where everyone else wants to be, so the doubled payout is priced in by the doubled risk. AbneyDude's counter-case is real: chasing the circle out into open ground and abandoning hard cover is how his team lost its foothold. Hold the strong position on the zone edge rather than standing in its exact centre. Hudi (9 Sep) calls hotzone play a strong early strategy but expects the edge to fade after the first few days, and RageGamingVideos ranks hotzone combat as the riskiest way to make money: skill-dependent enough that you can go in and come out with nothing. Pair it with a support action, since heals and revives come naturally next to the fighting, rather than relying on kills.

Is the "Drill Rig" the same thing as the Light Drill and Heavy Drill?
CONFIRMEDWinning & Teamplaydocumentation trap, settled from the official wikiany, supportpatch risk lowintel

The official wiki lists three separate things with "drill" in the name: the Drill Rig (a FOB deployable that pulls the hotzone, consuming FOB fuel) and the Light Drill ($600, Support 1) and Heavy Drill ($1,300, Support 28), which are battery-powered repair tools.

Step by step

  1. No test needed in game; this is a documentation trap. Stated here so it does not propagate.
  2. If a source says a drill costs hundreds of dollars and takes batteries, it is a repair tool. If it takes thousands of units of fuel and sits in a FOB, it is the Drill Rig.

Numbers

Light Drill $600, Support 1; Heavy Drill $1,300, Support 28.

Why it works

Several creator transcripts say "drill" without disambiguating, and at least one guide could easily send a new player to buy a $600 repair tool expecting to move the hotzone.

What does the "kicked from server" message actually gate now?
CONFIRMEDWinning & TeamplaySeason 1 change confirmed; nobody has used it as telemetryanypatch risk mediumintel

Season 1 changed it so the message only appears for actual bans, and bans are announced in-server when match termination is off. This means the kill feed is now a live anti-cheat telemetry source. Nobody has used it as one. GhostGaming adds the failure it replaces: a dropped connection used to tell you that you had been kicked.

Step by step

  1. Over a week, log every "kicked from server" line you see with a timestamp and the server.

Why it works

It is the only public signal of enforcement rate available, and it would settle whether the beta cheating complaints survived launch.

CONFIRMEDWinning & Teamplaymultiple creators, demonstrated on screen; Geck0 also shows the rebuy option; DemoMan0351 adds Shift for full ammo stacksanypatch risk low

Shift then Shift again is combat / tactical sprint (double-tap for the faster burst; duration and availability are set by your carry weight, and overloading removes it entirely). Hold 4 opens a quick-use radial of your tac-rig slots. C auto-repacks magazines with the inventory open, toggles first/third person in a helicopter, and skips the mortar shell follow-cam. Page Up / Page Down adjust weapon zero (most weapons; pistols do not). B in a vehicle at base opens that vehicle's buy menu for ammo, countermeasures and crates; hold Shift while buying to take full stacks. L in a helicopter unlocks the aircraft so non-squad players can board (locked to squad by default). A / D on a mounted weapon is fast traverse, with the mouse for fine adjustment. Escape is the squad menu, team chat and CHANGE TEAM. Tab is inventory and scoreboard. The Rebuy button, bottom left of the vendor, restores your entire previous loadout in one click with an editable popup and a price preview.

Why it works

The Rebuy button is the highest-value UI feature in the game for a new player and IceManIsaac reports seeing a level 70 player who did not know it existed. Its only limitation is that it cannot be used at the very start of a session, before the game has a saved loadout.

Where it falls apart

The C-auto-repack has a trap worth knowing: it always fills the top-left magazine first and reads the grid like a book, so if your mags are already mostly full it will cannibalise one to top off another and leave you worse off. Workaround: physically move your emptiest magazine to the right of the grid before pressing C so it becomes the donor.

The money follows the objective, so there is no trade-off
CONFIRMEDWinning & Teamplay8 creators, consistent; RageGamingVideos adds a risk ranking that puts hotzone combat lastanypatch risk low

Standing in the zone pays passive cash. Everything you do in the hotzone pays double. Kills outside the operating area pay less. So the money-maximising play and the match-winning play are the same play, which is unusual and is the thing new players get wrong first.

Step by step

  1. Play your first two matches purely shooting people, to get it out of your system. motiv8 recommends this and he is right; you will not absorb systems while you are twitchy.
  2. From match three, stop insta-respawning and sprinting at the first gunshot. Open the map first and decide where your faction needs a body.
  3. Pick one paid support action you can do reliably: revive people, carry supplies, drive the spawn vehicle, spot with $75 binoculars. Do it inside the hotzone.
  4. Bank a strong support round, then spend that money on an expensive kit for the next round. Cash is universal and persistent, so you can earn it in the cheapest role and spend it in the most fun one.

Numbers

Binoculars $75. Beta payouts for context: spot $100, spotted target killed $400 rising to $800 in the control zone and $1,600 in the hotzone; revive $400/$800/$1,600 by zone; passenger delivery $75/$150/$300 by zone. games.gg's framing is the useful one: surviving a fight with a $200 kit can be more profitable than dying repeatedly with a $1,500 one.

Why it works

CAMIKAZE78's structural point is that cash is simultaneously the scoreboard metric and the thing that determines what you can afford to carry. Supporting your team directly funds your own combat effectiveness. IceManIsaac adds the anti-griefing rule that makes it hold together: you never lose out when a teammate helps. Shared builds, shared kills and shared revives pay both players, and there is a specific revive-assist credit. Nobody is stealing your payout by helping. RadioGLHF shows the same rule in logistics: a teammate who flies or drives an ammo pallet to a solo builder is paid for delivering it, and the builder is paid for putting it into the FOB.

Where it falls apart

TacticalNed says twice that any playstyle profits and that the ranked methods are optimisations rather than requirements. He is right about profit and wrong about winning. CAMIKAZE78 states the limit directly: going Rambo is fully supported and explicitly insufficient for victory, because someone has to run logistics, revive, build and bring the spawn vehicle in. Counter-caveat worth taking seriously: LiteralWedgeOfCheese argues you do not need to profit every match. One player outside the zone with a SAM site, UAV drones or roadside ambushes can stop five to ten enemies from reaching the zone, and under a scoring system that counts bodies in the zone that is a favourable trade even at a personal financial loss. His evidence is one observed match where a single SAM site broke a Lonestar steamroll. That is one match, not a measured effect, but the arithmetic is sound. RageGamingVideos states the same rule for every role, that higher value means doing your job in the hotzone, but his Season 1 ranking of money methods by risk puts FOB mortars and anti-air hunting helicopters and big-ticket enemy FOB items first, pilot hotzone drops second, two-pallet Ural logistics third as close to zero risk, and hotzone combat last as the riskiest with the highest ceiling. All four still feed the objective. The practical reading: the objective is where the money is, and the safest way to take it is from a support seat rather than a rifle.

Moving the hotzone: tower codes and the drill
CONFIRMEDWinning & Teamplay11 creators + official wiki Drill Rig description + MetaForge + games.ggany, supportpatch risk medium

The hotzone drifts around the control zone at random until somebody forces it. There are two ways to force it. Sweep the map towers and assemble their code, which costs nothing but bodies; or build a drill at your FOB and feed it fuel, which costs a lot but needs no towers.

Step by step

  1. Code route: open the map and find the towers inside or near the control zone. Counts vary by map and by match.
  2. Climb a tower, clear defenders, go one floor above the entry level and find the ops room with computers.
  3. Hold F on the main console until the capture bar completes. The tower turns your faction's colour.
  4. You are given one digit of an overall code. Type it into team chat immediately. This is the step most teams fail.
  5. When your faction holds every digit, enter the full code at a keypad on a tower you control. The Hot Zone Magnet activates and the hotzone starts moving toward that tower.
  6. Drill route: build and fortify a FOB where you actually want to fight.
  7. Build a Drill Rig inside it.
  8. Run fuel to the FOB stockpile. Cargo dropped beside the FOB does not count until it is transferred in.
  9. Activate. The hotzone is pulled onto your prepared base.

Numbers

Tower counts reported as 2-5 (Legacy Gaming), 3-5 (Overgear, games.gg), and 5 (Gigabeef). Drill activation needs up to 6,000 fuel for a maximum-duration pull; MetaForge quotes a 6000/6000 fuel capacity requirement. dq7reimagined reports a 1,200 fuel minimum and roughly 220 seconds per 1,800 fuel, unverified elsewhere. The visual cue that a pull is under way is a "wamp" sound and a dashed white line on your map. Post-launch, Loknik uses holding a tower code or having a drill built as the mid-game checkpoint, and SwoleBenji says the map shows each tower's build cooldown and fuel status. DemoMan0351 (20 Advanced Tips, beta) says four drills keep the hotzone on your FOB for the whole match with good fuel logistics and timing; LiteralWedgeOfCheese (tower FOBs, beta) says five would hold it indefinitely. Neither shows a timer.

Why it works

It converts the one part of the scoring system you do not control (where the doubled-value circle sits) into something you do. Soulgrot calls pulling the hotzone onto an existing FOB "gamebreaking", and the reason is structural: you get the doubled income while fighting from behind walls, mortars and turrets, and the enemy has to cross open ground to contest it. Airwingmarine's headline win condition is the same combination: build a base around a tower, then pull the zone to it.

Where it falls apart

Gigabeef argues the opposite and he is not obviously wrong. Building at a tower forfeits the FOB's main advantage, which is that you can put it anywhere. The tower is the most obvious landmark on the map, so it is the first place the enemy looks, and everything you build there gets shelled. His concession is that a tower still gives you a free drill, high ground, and denial of that tower's code digit. AbneyDude separately watched a faction dominate the scoreboard holding zero towers, just by controlling a stadium, and honestly reports that he does not know what drills do. Resolution: towers are a means to the code, not a scoring objective in themselves, and you do not have to build on one to use one. Second caveat: TheTacticalBrit says the drill can be activated repeatedly in one match as long as you have supplies, and that each pull escalates the heat you attract. Every pull tells the whole server where you are. Third caveat, from Loknik and Wardogs Building Community independently: the pull only lasts as long as the fuel. Do not drag the hotzone onto a fortified FOB that nobody has stocked, and plan the fuel runs before you activate. SwoleBenji adds that holding the zone over your base indefinitely needs a team that keeps supply drops coming. Fourth caveat: DemoMan0351 expects the multi-drill hold to be nerfed, so treat a match-long pull as a beta-era result until someone repeats it on the Season 1 build. RageGamingVideos (Season 1) describes the drill pull as the next step after a mortar and anti-air farm: once the hotzone arrives, the fight at your own FOB is itself good money.

Every item in the game is 50% off while you are under Wardog 9. It ends permanently once you pass it. Spend accordingly.

Step by step

  1. Check your account-wide Wardog level (separate from the six role tracks).
  2. While under 9, buy the durable things at half price: armour, helmets, optics, backpacks, tac rigs. These survive between matches in the sense that they are what keeps you alive and cheap to replace.
  3. Do not blow the discount on consumables you would have bought anyway.
  4. Use the same window to make your expensive mistakes. Learning to fly, learning to tank, and dying with a full kit all cost half as much right now.

Numbers

50% off all gear, loadouts and vehicles below Wardog 9. Everyone also starts with $10,000; WARDOGS Hub says that is once per account and persistent, MetaForge says per round. Season 1 XP to reach a level, against beta [S1]: unchanged below 6, 5.7% slower at 6, 40% slower at 10, 101% at 15, 124% at 20 (official changelog).

Why it works

The first nine levels are where your death rate is highest and your judgement is worst. The discount is the game's tuition subsidy. jackfrags' phrasing is "exploit it while it lasts", and in this case that is a sanctioned discount, not an exploit.

Where it falls apart

The Season 1 changelog leaves everything below level 6 unchanged and makes level 6 only 5.7% slower [S1]. The big slowdown starts later: 40% slower at level 10, 101% at 15, 124% at 20. If the Wardog level is the sum of your role levels (LIKELY, see the economy chapter), most of your role tracks are still in the unchanged band when the discount runs out, so the New Recruit window is close to its beta length. An early Shacknews mirror of the changelog misread "levels 10 to 20" as "10-20% slower"; the official figures above replace it. Do not assume you have longer than you do. WARDOGS Hub is the more careful source on the $10,000 starting balance and its reading matches every creator's treatment of cash as persistent; games.gg adds that free starter equipment is available if your balance goes negative, so you cannot be locked out.

Ordinary pings are squad-only and not very good. Only recon optics tag an enemy for the entire faction. The drop-off request is a right-click map marker that appears in your pilot's UI.

  1. Drop-off request: you are a passenger in a helicopter. Open the map and zoom to where you want to land.
  2. Right-click that spot and select request drop off.
  3. Do it on the run-in, just before you reach the AO. The marker expires in seconds.
  4. It is a request, not a command. The pilot may ignore it.
  5. Marking for the whole team: carry binoculars ($75, no unlock). PC Gamer calls them the default gadget for a reason.
  6. Hold left mouse button over a visible enemy to reveal their position to the whole team.
  7. Re-mark constantly. SwoleBenji's on-camera problem is that map markers expire quickly, often before you can finish swinging a mortar onto them.

Numbers

Binoculars $75, no unlock.

Why it works

Only recon optics tag an enemy for the entire faction; the drop-off request puts a marker directly into the pilot's UI. Geck0 independently confirms that squad pings are visible only to your squad.

Where it falls apart

Spotting has diminishing returns. Gigabeef says it is invaluable when you are the only one doing it and loses value fast once several teammates are spotting, because somebody still has to kill the things you mark. He still takes binoculars every loadout because they are cheap.

CONFIRMEDWinning & Teamplay4 creators, one of whom calls it his single biggest takeaway, plus Geck0 and SwoleBenji post-launchany, squad-leaderpatch risk low

The game mechanically rewards cooperation, and the reward is financial before it is social. With reliable people around you there is a high chance you get revived rather than having to buy a brand new kit. Grouping is a cost-reduction strategy.

Step by step

  1. Join a squad anyway (Escape, join any). Costs nothing, gives you a map and a radio.
  2. Use proximity chat with the strangers physically around you. TheTacticalBrit explicitly rejects the idea that teamwork means only your premade.
  3. Seek out community servers with regulars who communicate. TheTacticalBrit calls this the first step for solo and duo players. Approved hosts as of launch: QONZER, BisectHosting, xREALM (from $69.99/mo).
  4. Pick roles that do not require a partner. Spotting makes no noise, so a forward observer is very hard to find and enemies walk past you. CIWS or SAM on a supplied FOB is, in TacticalNed's phrase, guaranteed money with no spotters needed.
  5. What not to do solo: do not solo-snipe from tower tops. Stodeh's rule: if you get headshot up there, nobody will revive you. Roof and tower sniping is a two-person job.
  6. Do not run a SAM emplacement alone if you can help it. iMaTT's own words while sitting on one: "what I need is like a sniper." The operator is blind to ground threats and tied to the seat, which is exactly how AquaFPS died.

Numbers

Approved community hosts from $69.99/mo (QONZER, BisectHosting, xREALM). A 1.25-million-copy launch population.

Why it works

DemoMan0351 says finding a group is the single biggest takeaway of his entire class guide, and notes that nearly every per-class tip he gives depends on having people around: medic revives, tank crewing, AA scanning, IED sales.

Where it falls apart

The "randoms are great" claim is a beta observation from a population of enthusiasts who signed up for a closed test. A 1.25-million-copy launch population is a different sample. The mechanic that produces the cooperation (people are paid for reviving and transporting you) is unchanged, so the behaviour should largely survive, but expect more variance. On building solo, two creators pull in different directions. SwoleBenji (launch day) says a solo player should join a server already in progress and build at the team's established, defended base, because a lone FOB in the open gets swarmed by premades. RadioGLHF builds isolated offensive anti-air and missile positions by himself and counts ending a solo build life $10,000 [BETA] ahead as a success. Both hold up, because RadioGLHF builds inside existing hard cover and sets a modest profit bar. Start at the team base; go offensive solo only inside a strong structure. Geck0 adds the plain version: solo is playable and fun, grouped is stronger, and on the front line you should always know where your teammates are.

Reading the map: zoom, grid, coordinates
CONFIRMEDWinning & TeamplayCONFIRMED for the bindings (4 creators, independently)anypatch risk low

[ and ] zoom the minimap in and out (fine control, rebindable); N cycles minimap zoom levels and also cycles the big map's zoom; M opens the full map; hovering anywhere reads XY coordinates; right-clicking your position gives "Mark coordinates" which puts the exact coordinate string in chat (Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C to copy); right-clicking a spot as a heli passenger requests drop off.

Numbers

Grid scale: each small square on the map is 10 m. Zoom out until the coarse 100 m lines appear and count hundreds to range a target quickly. SwoleBenji's worked example counts 100, 200, 300 and calls it about 340 m. Gigabeef's stated ambush distance is roughly 100 m down the road from an enemy spawn.

Why it works

Gigabeef's routine is to check, at the start of every match, each faction's likely logistics routes for that match's control-zone position: important roads, bridges and crossings. Those chokepoints are where you ambush and where you get ambushed. Roughly 100 m down the road from an enemy spawn is his stated ambush distance, because vehicle traffic has to funnel out of there.

Where it falls apart

Setting worth knowing: there is a separate option, off by default, that syncs the minimap and large map zoom together, so zooming either zooms both. jackfrags is the only source for it and suggests rebinding zoom to N for players coming from Battlefield. Maplewood runs the minimap two N steps out, a sensible default to start from.

Rebinding is dangerous right now
CONFIRMEDWinning & TeamplayCONFIRMED as a live problem (Steam keybind FAQ + Steam bug report + WARDOGS Hub, all independent)any, pilotpatch risk mediumglitch

Several keybind interactions are broken and none of them were fixed in Season 1.

Step by step

  1. Do not rebind Reload from R. It breaks vehicle weapon reload entirely. Tested in the AA-Talon and the mortar tank / SPH. Recovering requires deleting config files.
  2. Do not rebind Spacebar. It carries a hidden helicopter weapon-fire function that persists after reassignment, and rebinding it can silently unbind Deploy Parachute.
  3. Some custom binds are globally exclusive between infantry and vehicle. Recheck your infantry binds after remapping anything in a helicopter.
  4. Infantry "Invert Y" also inverts helicopter pitch and roll. Workaround: Invert Y Axis - Air Vehicle ON, Invert Y Axis - Infantry OFF.
  5. Controller buttons cannot be rebound in game at all, and keybinds may not save; the community workaround is editing GameUserSettings.ini.
  6. Back up %LOCALAPPDATA%\Wardogs\Saved\Config\WindowsClient\GameUserSettings.ini before you touch anything. To unbind cleanly: Settings > Controls > Keybindings, select the action, press Delete.

Why it works

These are live, unfixed interactions that can leave core actions like vehicle reload and Deploy Parachute silently broken.

Where it falls apart

None of these were fixed in Season 1; recovery from the worst of them requires deleting config files.

The core rule: presence, counted per player, per tick
CONFIRMEDWinning & Teamplayofficial Steam FAQ + 7 creators + 3 written sourcesanypatch risk low

Three factions of roughly 33 players each fight over one control zone in the middle of the map. Every 30 seconds the game counts how many players each faction has inside the zone and gives 1 point to whoever has the most. First faction to 100 points wins. Nothing else scores.

Step by step

  1. Spawn at your faction HQ. Do not walk.
  2. Open the map (M) and find the control zone, then the smaller yellow hotzone inside it.
  3. Get there by helicopter, the APC, or a vehicle, in that order of preference.
  4. Stand inside the zone and stay alive. That is the whole scoring contribution.
  5. Watch the bar at the bottom of the screen. It fills and ticks; the zone changes colour to show who currently holds the majority.

Numbers

100 players; 3 factions; 33 players per faction; 16x16 km map (256 km sq); 1 point per 30 seconds; 100 points to win; matches routinely run over an hour. SwoleBenji's example match: 34 red, 31 blue and 30 green players, with 26 of red's 34 inside the circle; red dominated.

Why it works

This is King of the Hill with an economy bolted on. Because the tick counts bodies and not kills, a squad that sits in cover inside the zone out-scores a squad that wins every gunfight 50 m outside it. TheTacticalBrit's worked example: 30 of your faction in the zone against 20 red and 20 green means you take the tick, every tick.

Where it falls apart

The tick is a strict majority count, and MetaForge says a tick can be contested by matching the leading faction's headcount. In a three-way that means a spoiler faction with no chance of winning can still deny the leader by matching their bodies. If you are third and out of contention, denying the leader is worth more than farming the second-place team.

When voice breaks
CONFIRMEDWinning & TeamplayCONFIRMED fixed for the beta failure modes (Season 1 changelog, official wiki, 3 creators); intermittent problems remainanypatch risk medium

Season 1 fixed voice permanently cutting out after a failed join, stale channel rejoins, push-to-talk targeting recovering on relog, and reliability under load. It also added a visible communication status indicator.

Step by step

  1. Before your first match: open the settings cog (bottom right), go to Audio, pick the correct input device and run the mic test. SwoleBenji's launch-day advice, because voice still breaks often enough that you end up talking to nobody.
  2. Open the scoreboard and press U twice to mute and unmute yourself. This is the community workaround from the August tests and bugfree.gg's entry for the 7 Sep mid-match mic failure.
  3. Toggle Voice Chat off and on in settings. This was the official workaround for the 4 Sep third-party VOIP provider outage.
  4. Check Windows microphone permissions, and whether you are on push-to-talk or open mic.
  5. Airwingmarine's fallback: ask in global text chat. Other players will know the current workaround.

Why it works

Molixatus emphasises this is not a small fix and that anyone who gave up on squad voice in beta should retry it. GhostGaming (10 Sep) reads the same fixes off the patch notes and notes voice was unreliable across both betas.

Where it falls apart

Push-to-talk has been a persistent problem rooted in the developer's third-party VOIP provider, not in the game client, which means it can break again server-side without a patch. Post-Season-1 status is genuinely unknown; dropouts were still being reported at launch. SwoleBenji's launch-day video calls voice breaking a known, frequent problem, though it may have been recorded on the beta build.

The two channels, and the one that leaks
CONFIRMEDWinning & Teamplay7 creators + PC Gamer + WARDOGS Companionany, squad-leaderpatch risk low

Proximity (local) voice is heard by everyone physically near you, including enemies. Squad voice is a private channel that neither enemies nor non-squad teammates can hear. Plan in squad, talk to strangers in proximity, and assume every word on proximity is intelligence you are giving away.

Numbers

Two channels: proximity (local) and squad.

Why it works

PC Gamer states it flatly for new players: "Enemies can hear every word you're saying over mic." WARDOGS Companion is more conservative and notes the enemy-audibility of local voice is not officially documented, but five creators treat it as settled and DemoMan0351 demonstrates it on camera by announcing over proximity that everyone is dead, waiting for the enemy to relax, then killing them. If the deception works, the channel leaks.

Where it falls apart

Do not permanently mute proximity. iMaTT's point is that positional audio and local chat are good enough to locate enemies by sound. It is an information source, not just noise. Geck0 gives the same channel rule to beginners: use proximity cautiously because anyone nearby can hear it, and keep anything private on squad chat, which also carries pings only your squad can see.

The 20-point thresholds
LIKELYWinning & Teamplay3 creators plus BisectHosting; figures varyany, drivernumbers may be stale

When a faction reaches 20 points, that faction's spawn vehicle (the APC) appears at its HQ. Someone has to drive it to the zone and park it inside the circle, stationary, for the team to spawn on it. IceManIsaac also reports that APCs and attack aircraft unlock at 20 points.

Step by step

  1. Watch the score. At 20 points, go back to HQ and claim the spawn vehicle before somebody worse at driving does.
  2. Drive it to the control zone, ideally into the hotzone.
  3. Park it somewhere defensible, stationary and inside the circle. It only works stationary.
  4. Get out and defend it. Every teammate who spawns from it pays you money and driver XP.
  5. To spawn on it: open the deployment board, or use the computer terminal across from any faction shop, scroll to the bottom, click spawn. You get a 10-second countdown, then you appear inside the vehicle.

Numbers

20 points to trigger. 10-second deploy countdown (jackfrags, Airwingmarine). Once per 10 minutes per player (Airwingmarine; games.gg calls it "around 10 minutes"; IceManIsaac guesses ~5 minutes, which is probably wrong). Beta payouts: $3,000 on arrival in the control zone, $100 per teammate spawn; a destroyed spawn vehicle is worth $5,000 to the enemy who kills it (wardogsdb says $15,000, which conflicts).

Why it works

Instant respawns on the objective decide matches. Soulgrot calls the parked respawn vehicle "beyond broken" and predicts whoever controls it will be the richest player in the match. Gigabeef flags the same threshold as enemy intelligence: at 20 points you know an enemy spawn vehicle is about to be on the road, and an unescorted one is the best target on the map.

Where it falls apart

The countdown is dead time during which you are committed, which is exactly what makes spawn camping work against you. RageGamingVideos' rule: after teleport-spawning in, never step straight out. Hold F1 to swap to the driver seat first and look around in third person. Also note the spawn vehicle can deploy its own smoke screen; spin it while deploying smoke to build cover before anyone dismounts. Caveat 2: the APC's roof radar/antenna can be shot out to disable it as a spawn point without destroying the vehicle. That works on yours as well as theirs. See the register.

Read what the enemy is using and switch role to counter it
NewLIKELYWinning & TeamplayRageGamingVideos and Maplewood independently; both describe their own practice rather than a measured resultanypatch risk low

There is no fixed correct job. Look at what your team lacks and what the enemy is hurting you with, take the role that answers it, and change again when the answer changes.

Step by step

  1. Every few minutes, open the map and the scoreboard and name the one enemy asset doing the most damage: a dug-in FOB, a tank, a gunship or anti-air.
  2. Enemy FOB near the zone: build or crew a mortar and shell it repeatedly (Maplewood).
  3. Enemy tank: buy an RPG kit and go after it (Maplewood).
  4. No enemy anti-air yet: fly or crew a gunner helicopter (RageGamingVideos).
  5. Enemy anti-air goes up: switch to sniper or mortar and kill it, then return to the helicopter once they stop rebuilding it (RageGamingVideos).

Why it works

Cash carries across roles, so switching costs you only the kit, and the role that counters the current threat has the most targets and the least competition. RageGamingVideos treats the role tracks as phases of one match rather than separate playstyles, and calls it both his most effective and his most fun way to play.

Where it falls apart

Both creators describe personal practice, recorded before launch or on launch day, and neither measures it. XP goes to the track you are playing, so constant switching slows any single unlock; if you are grinding one, counter with that role where you can (this guide's inference). Do not empty the hotzone to chase a counter: bodies in the zone still decide the match.

Aim settings: the three that matter
LIKELYWinning & TeamplayTheTacticalBrit for the aim settings; corroborated in shape by Overgear and games.gganypatch risk low

Aiming coefficient 0%; ADS field of view independent, not affected; FOV 90-110.

Step by step

  1. Aiming coefficient: 0%. Removes the sensitivity scaling applied when aiming down sights. TheTacticalBrit calls this his strongest recommendation for mouse players; it is analogous to the same setting in Battlefield.
  2. ADS field of view: independent, not affected. This is the Call of Duty-style independent/affected toggle. Set independent and your scope keeps full magnification no matter how high your base FOV is, which means you can run a wide FOV without giving up optics.
  3. FOV: 90-110. Overgear says 95, games.gg says 95-110. Pick by taste.

Numbers

Aiming coefficient 0%. FOV 90-110 (Overgear 95, games.gg 95-110). Mouse baseline from Overgear's settings list (beta, commercial source): 800 DPI, sensitivity 0.70, ADS multiplier 1.00, acceleration 0, relative scaling, instant transition, Invert Y off for infantry. Sensitivity from SwoleBenji (launch day): 20-50 cm per 360-degree turn if you plan to fight, or simply whatever lets you turn 180 degrees without straining your wrist.

Why it works

Removing ADS sensitivity scaling makes your aim consistent between hipfire and sights; independent ADS FOV lets you keep a wide FOV without losing scope magnification.

Where it falls apart

Overgear's beta settings list recommends "ADS FOV Affected", which is the opposite. Overgear is a commercial boosting site; TheTacticalBrit explains the mechanism. Prefer independent, then test. Controller: reduce dead zone size and experiment with acceleration curves; TheTacticalBrit uses dynamic in essentially every shooter. Controller settings can be applied selectively to vehicles if you want to fly on sticks and shoot on mouse. Be aware that controller flight bindings cannot be remapped in game at all (IceManIsaac), which is the main reason he rates the controller experience as poor.

Learn the map for free in the firing range
LIKELYWinning & TeamplayThe Beard Guys and DemoMan0351 independently say the range contains a real map; firing range itself CONFIRMED by 3 creatorsanypatch risk medium

The firing range is free, contains the entire arsenal including helicopters and tanks, and is a one-to-one replica of live systems. The under-used part: the firing range contains one of the game's real maps. Fly, drive or walk far enough southwest and you are on it, with no enemies.

Why it works

TheTacticalBrit: it is the first place you should go no matter how experienced you are. You can learn terrain and practise interacting with towers in complete safety. Also do your sensitivity tuning here: dial in flight and vehicle sensitivities in the range before you spend money bringing that vehicle to the front. Discovering your sensitivity is wrong while flying a purchased helicopter costs real cash. IceManIsaac does his graphics tuning there too: change Video settings while standing in the range so each change is visible immediately. DemoMan0351's use for the range map: explore it with no time limit to learn peaks and useful positions, and plan and rehearse an exact FOB build before you spend money on it in a real match.

Where it falls apart

Two creators now say it independently: The Beard Guys (3.9K views) with a step-by-step route, and DemoMan0351 (20 Advanced Tips, beta), who adds that there is no time limit. It is still a checkable claim, so verify it in ten seconds next time you load the range. Known gap: the firing range does not display item prices or total loadout cost, so you must cost your loadout separately in the buy menu.

Helicopter controls: turn on mouse control, then test the assists one at a time
NewLIKELYWinning & TeamplayRotary Vehicle Mouse Control recommended independently by Silk, StratzFPS and Pilot Andy; assist choices differ by pilot, and Maplewood and DemoMan0351 both fly with assists or safeties offpilotpatch risk medium

Enable Rotary Vehicle Mouse Control before your first flight, then go to the firing range and try each flight assist on its own. There is no correct bind set: Silk counts four different schemes among the top pilots he names, and Pilot Andy's point is that crashes come from flying skill, not keybinds.

Step by step

  1. Settings, Controls: enable Rotary Vehicle Mouse Control. StratzFPS calls it one of the most useful settings for flying.
  2. Pick a scheme by what you want. Silk: rifle aim (pitch and roll on the mouse) and dual flight sticks give the most precision, HOTAS with throttle and pedals is smoothest, and default keyboard sits between. He recommends new pilots start on rifle aim because it has the highest skill ceiling.
  3. On mouse and keyboard, Silk's setup: air vehicle sensitivity multiplier 2.0 with a very low pitch and roll multiplier, and every mouse flight control also bound to a key as a backup.
  4. In the firing range, test the four assists one at a time. Stability Assist damps pitch, roll and yaw. Auto Hover holds a steady hover when you let go of the collective keys. Envelope Limits keeps you inside a safer flight envelope but gives way if you force extreme attitudes. Turn Coordination adds yaw in banked turns so you slip less.
  5. Keep the ones that help. Pilot Andy flies with Stability and Auto Hover only; Silk says top pilots run no assists or Auto Hover alone; Maplewood turns flight assists off entirely and finds they make flying harder.
  6. For the full flight envelope, open the HOTAS settings page even if you do not own a HOTAS, scroll to the bottom and turn off the flight safeties there (DemoMan0351). Flying gets harder at first. Do not enable HOTAS input itself without a stick, because that blocks mouse and keyboard helicopter input (register B11).
  7. If you fly rifle aim and want to circle-strafe, give yaw its own key. Silk puts left yaw on Shift.
  8. Practise in the range before you fly a paid loadout in a match. Maplewood spends a couple of hours in the flying range before a session on take-offs, landings and J-hooks, and warns it is harder than Battlefield.

Numbers

Silk's air vehicle sensitivity multiplier 2.0; four control schemes among top pilots. StratzFPS says a crash can cost a loadout of up to $8,000 [ALPHA].

Why it works

On keyboard, flight input is all or nothing, so the mouse is the only source of in-between values. Assists trade authority for stability, which is why the same assist helps a new pilot and fights an experienced one.

Where it falls apart

The pilots disagree on details, and none of this was re-tested after Season 1 added helicopter input damping on all devices. Two bind claims conflict with the vehicles chapter. Pilot Andy thinks the default flare key is X but says he is not sure, while IceManIsaac's default list gives V. StratzFPS's alpha footage shows collective on W and S by default, while IceManIsaac lists Left Shift and Left Ctrl. Check both in your own Controls menu. Full bind tables are in the vehicles chapter. GhostGaming (10 Sep) reads the damping change off the patch notes and says he cannot tell what it does in practice; he wonders whether it answers beta reports that a helicopter only felt right with one assist on. DemoMan0351's HOTAS-page safeties and the Envelope Limits assist may be the same control under two names; nobody in the corpus says.

What will the black market's Missions and Investments tabs do?
NewLIKELYWinning & TeamplayLIKELY that a missions tab exists (Hudi and Maplewood independently, pre-launch); what the tabs do is both creators' guessworkanypatch risk mediumintel

Hudi (9 Sep) says the black market menu already carries tabs for the gold market, investments, unlocks and missions. Maplewood (7 Sep) separately expects the missions tab to be daily activities paying extra cash or free kits. Neither knows what the tabs do yet.

Step by step

  1. Open the black market menu and note which of the four tabs are live and which are locked or empty.
  2. If Missions is live, record whether tasks reset daily and what each pays, in cash or in kits.
  3. If Investments is live, record what you can invest in and whether the return tracks faction performance, which is Hudi's guess.

Numbers

4 tabs reported: gold market, investments, unlocks, missions.

Why it works

A daily mission that pays cash or kits changes what is worth doing in a match, and an investment tied to faction performance would make faction choice matter. Hudi also relays Bulkhead's stated plan for a meta game outside matches: stock markets, wagering on matches you have not played yet, and a skill and talent system that survives season resets, which the April roadmap says will be built during Early Access.

Where it falls apart

Both accounts are pre-launch, and both creators call their reading of the tabs guesswork. The economy chapter treats the Black Market as a roadmap feature that has not shipped; a menu with tabs and a working market are not the same thing, so check in game before acting on either.

Switching teams mid-match

Your faction pick is offered on first load-in and it is not permanent. There is a CHANGE TEAM option in the Escape menu, and it works mid-match when the target faction has slots available.

Step by step

  1. Press Escape.
  2. Use CHANGE TEAM (the same menu that holds CREATE SQUAD).
  3. If the target faction is full, you cannot switch. Slots free up as players leave.

Why it works

When to do it: you loaded in without thinking and want to play with friends; your faction is in a terminal death spiral and you would rather play than be farmed; Gigabeef's tactical use, if the faction you have been ambushing gets fed up and starts hunting you, swap to the third faction and get a fresh surprise attack on the same people. Because the game is three-way, the team you leave does not become the team you attack.

Where it falls apart

Gigabeef's swap-to-re-ambush play is beta-era and is the closest thing in this cluster to a grey-zone social exploit. It is not a bug and nothing in the enforcement policy prohibits changing faction. But repeatedly switching to reset an enemy's threat assessment is the kind of behaviour that attracts reports, and reports are now tracked and weighted. Doing it once because your team is losing is normal. Doing it every ten minutes to farm the same three players is not, and a community server admin will remove you for it. Caveat 2: switching mid-match abandons your squad, your comms channel, and whatever tower codes your old faction was assembling. It costs your old team more than it costs you.

The winning shape: a squad moving with the hotzone, with medics
LIKELYWinning & TeamplayDemoMan0351 asserts it as his strongest meta claim across all playtests; corroborated in spirit by TheTacticalBrit and TacticalNed; Silk independently backs the stay-together half post-launchany, medic, squad-leaderpatch risk medium

FOB camping is usually a losing strategy. The consistently winning pattern DemoMan0351 saw across every playtest was a group moving with the hotzone with medics keeping everyone up.

Numbers

A three- or four-stack at close quarters; the alternative is a 4-minute trip from HQ.

Why it works

It stacks three things at once. Bodies in the doubled-value circle, revives that keep those bodies there instead of sending them on a 4-minute trip from HQ, and doubled payouts on the revives themselves. A three- or four-stack at close quarters means anyone who goes down is picked up before bleeding out, and the enemy has to wipe the whole stack instead of trading one for one. Silk (137K views, 12 Sep) sees the same from the pilot seat: squads that land together and heal each other do better than squads that parachute out one by one.

Where it falls apart

DemoMan0351 himself allows that heavy vehicles may shake this up, since tanks arrived late in testing and are impactful but expensive. And Soulgrot argues the opposite opening, that prioritising the FOB over the hotzone early can be very strong because early infrastructure compounds while early hotzone fighting does not. He hedges it as situational. Both can be true: FOB first, then pull the hotzone to it, is the synthesis several creators land on independently. The FOB half is now more contested: SwoleBenji and Wardogs Building Community both treat a defended base with drills pulling the hotzone onto it as the strongest setup (see the drill farming card), which is FOB play that wins. The squad-with-medics shape is the right default when your team has no such base.

AbneyDude's case, assessed seriously
DISPUTEDWinning & TeamplayDISPUTED / SINGLE-SOURCE-plus-one; SwoleBenji now names a different winning factionany, reconnumbers may be stale

AbneyDude (90K views, 35 beta hours) built a whole video on "don't pick the wrong team": pick Manticore, avoid Lonestar. He offers three supporting arguments. They are not equally strong.

Step by step

  1. Argument 1: uniform camouflage. Manticore's clothing is naturally camouflaged against roughly 90% of the map. Valkyra wears a bright red armband. Lonestar wears a denim-looking suit with a tan helmet and tan backpack. Assessment: plausible and under-tested, and the most interesting claim in the cluster. It is single-source, unquantified, and exactly the kind of claim a player who prefers one faction would generate post hoc. But WARDOGS has a 1 km view distance and heavy recon play, so silhouette contrast at 300-800 m genuinely matters. Corroborating detail from IceManIsaac: team icons render in your faction's actual colour, so on Valkyra your own teammates carry red markers. Treat the camouflage claim as LIKELY-TRUE and UNQUANTIFIED.
  2. Argument 2: Lonestar is the worst-played faction. Almost no communication, consistently attacking the wrong objective, and he saw them win once in the entire beta. Corroborated independently by Soulgrot (3.2K views), who played 30 beta matches on blue and won exactly one. AbneyDude also cites an observed 91-6-8 scoreline, and says the subreddit reached the same conclusion. Assessment: two independent creators, both beta, both self-reported, neither measured. LIKELY for the beta and STALE for Early Access.
  3. Argument 3: the last-pick death spiral. New players join a faction already down 20 points, existing players quit, and the faction perpetually absorbs whoever had no better option. Assessment: the strongest part of the argument, because it is a mechanism rather than an observation. WARDOGS has free team switching, drop-in/drop-out joining, and a visible scoreboard at the join screen. Nothing in the corpus describes any autobalance, join restriction or faction-locking mechanism. If none exists, the spiral is structurally permitted.
  4. Counter-evidence: SwoleBenji says red, and blames the map. In his launch-day guide he says red won most of the beta matches he played, then shows why on one map: blue's and green's towers faced each other and forced those two factions to fight, while red's tower sat out of the way and red built a fortune uncontested. Get Gud with Garen separately places red's tower far to one side on Kavcazi. SwoleBenji also allows that premades and clan stacking override any faction trend. Assessment: if faction records really differ, tower geography is a better explanation than faction identity, and geography changes with the map and the control-zone position.

Numbers

~90% of the map camouflaged (eyeball estimate, three maps); 30 beta matches, 1 win (Soulgrot); observed 91-6-8 scoreline; 35 beta hours; launch playerbase 1.25 million copies and roughly 300,000 concurrent versus a closed beta of ~500,000 signups; joining a faction already down 20 points; 1 km view distance; 300-800 m engagement range. SwoleBenji (launch day, hedged): red won the majority of the beta matches he played.

Why it works

Verdict: pick whichever faction you like; there is no mechanical reason not to. The beta win-rate claims now contradict each other: AbneyDude says play green, Soulgrot saw blue win once in 30, and SwoleBenji says red wins most and credits the map rather than the faction. If you want to maximise your odds of winning today, join the faction that is currently ahead or level, because the death-spiral mechanism is the one part of AbneyDude's case that survives the beta-to-launch transition. Do not join a faction because a beta-era video told you a colour is bad. Do consider the camouflage point if you are playing recon or fighting at range on open maps.

Where it falls apart

Every faction claim here predates Early Access by weeks. Season 1 changed no faction properties, because there are none documented to change. The official FAQ's counter-position is that "an extra player on one team doesn't give them an unfair edge", which addresses headcount imbalance and not motivation imbalance. Soulgrot himself frames his record as a current-state observation, not a permanent property.

DISPUTED: do drills share a cooldown?
DISPUTEDWinning & Teamplaydirect contradiction; 2 creators back independent cooldowns against Legacy Gaming, and 2 more describe multi-drill holds that imply themany, support, buildernumbers may be stale

Legacy Gaming says all drills on the map share pull timers regardless of faction. RadioGLHF says flatly, as a tested fact, that multiple oil rigs in one base do not share a cooldown, and Wardogs Building Community independently says each rig has its own cooldown and chains four so they overlap.

Numbers

Legacy Gaming describes a four-drill rotation to keep pulling continuously. RadioGLHF says his winning game used three rigs. Wardogs Building Community runs four rigs at one base. DemoMan0351 says four drills hold the hotzone all match; LiteralWedgeOfCheese says five.

Why it works

The practical difference is enormous: if cooldowns are independent, stacking drills is the strongest win condition in the game; if they are globally shared, drill-stacking is wasted fuel.

Where it falls apart

All of these are beta-era and nobody has shown a timer on screen. The weight of evidence now favours independent cooldowns per rig: two independent creators say so directly, Legacy Gaming's own four-drill rotation only works if timers are independent at least within a faction, and DemoMan0351 and LiteralWedgeOfCheese independently say four or five drills keep the hotzone on one FOB for a whole match, which only works if the rigs do not lock each other out. Neither of those two mentions timers directly. Build a second drill only after the first is fuelled and defended, and treat the question as open until someone runs the test in the intel notes.

Do drills share a cooldown, and is drill-stacking the strongest win condition in the game?
DISPUTEDWinning & Teamplaythe corpus flatly contradicts itselfany, support, buildernumbers may be staleintel

Legacy Gaming says all drills on the map share pull timers regardless of faction. RadioGLHF says multiple oil rigs in one base have independent cooldowns and that his winning match used three. Legacy Gaming separately describes a four-drill rotation to pull continuously, which needs independent timers to work. Wardogs Building Community (5 Sep beta footage) sides with RadioGLHF: each rig has its own cooldown, and four rigs chained keep the pulls overlapping.

Step by step

  1. Build two drills in one FOB. Activate drill A and note the exact game time.
  2. The moment the pull completes, attempt to activate drill B. If B activates immediately, cooldowns are independent and drill-stacking is the best-value use of fuel in the game. If B is locked out, cooldowns are shared.
  3. Then repeat with a teammate on a different faction pulling first, to test whether the lockout is global across factions or only within yours.

Numbers

Cost per activation is up to 6,000 fuel, so budget ~18,000 fuel for the full test.

Why it works

If cooldowns are independent, three drills plus a fortified FOB is a deterministic win condition and nobody in the corpus has fully exploited it. If they are global, every drill guide in circulation is wasting the team's fuel.

Where it falls apart

All sources are beta-era. Two independent creators back independent cooldowns directly, two more (DemoMan0351 with four drills, LiteralWedgeOfCheese with five) describe match-long holds that imply them, one backs a shared timer, and nobody has shown a timer on screen.

What is the actual cash tick interval, and does it differ from the score tick?
DISPUTEDWinning & Teamplayfigures cannot all be rightanypatch risk mediumintel

The scoring tick is 30 seconds on official authority. But Wardogs Zone reports a cash tick of $160 per 22 seconds in the control zone and $320 in the hotzone, and Legacy Gaming reports "~160 cash every few seconds". Those cannot all be right.

Step by step

  1. Stand alone in the control zone with a stopwatch, note your cash balance, and record the exact interval between payout events for five minutes.
  2. Then step into the hotzone and repeat.
  3. Compare the payout interval to the score-bar tick.

Numbers

Score tick 30 seconds; cash tick reported as $160 per 22 seconds in the control zone, $320 in the hotzone; Legacy Gaming reports ~160 cash every few seconds.

Why it works

It is possible that scoring and income run on separate timers, which nobody in the corpus says explicitly. If the intervals differ, the practical consequence is that brief dips into the hotzone can be timed against the cash tick rather than the score tick.

Does the APC personal spawn cooldown differ from the APC's own availability?
DISPUTEDWinning & Teamplaythree figures, possibly describing two different timersany, drivernumbers may be staleintel

Airwingmarine says once per 10 minutes; games.gg says "around 10 minutes" and calls it a personal cooldown; IceManIsaac guesses ~5 minutes and ties it to the 20-point unlock. These may be describing two different timers (per-player spawn cooldown vs vehicle re-deploy).

Step by step

  1. Two players spawn on the APC 30 seconds apart, then both attempt to re-spawn on it.
  2. If their lockouts expire 30 seconds apart, the cooldown is per-player.
  3. Time the actual interval with a stopwatch rather than trusting any of the three figures.

Numbers

10 minutes (Airwingmarine), "around 10 minutes" (games.gg), ~5 minutes (IceManIsaac); 20-point unlock; test offset 30 seconds.

Why it works

The two candidate timers have different tactical consequences for how often a squad can redeploy onto the objective.

Cap your frame rate below refresh instead of using frame generation
NewSINGLE-SOURCEWinning & TeamplayIceManIsaac's settings guide (11 Sep), his own benchmarks; frame generation latency judged by feel, not measuredanypatch risk medium

Turn the in-game frame limit off and cap frames externally at or below your monitor's refresh rate, tuned so the GPU sits around 85-90% usage. Pair that with DLSS Quality, Balanced or Performance. Treat Nvidia Frame Generation as an experiment, and never go past 2x.

Step by step

  1. Turn the in-game frame limit off.
  2. Install MSI Afterburner, which bundles RivaTuner Statistics Server (RTSS), or use the Nvidia Control Panel limiter.
  3. Set the cap at or below your monitor's refresh rate.
  4. Watch GPU usage in a busy scene and lower the cap until it sits around 85-90%. From about 95% up, hitching starts.
  5. Run DLSS Quality, Balanced or Performance under the cap. IceManIsaac says he would compete on this setup.
  6. If you try Frame Generation, stay at 2x. 3x and 4x add noticeably worse input latency.

Numbers

His 240Hz test at 4K with DLSS Ultra Performance ran 266 FPS average with 1% lows around 210 uncapped; capped at 240, average and 1% lows both sat at 240. GPU target 85-90%, hitching from about 95%. Frame Generation 2x lifted his average to about 315 FPS at 4K on DLSS Quality and high settings, while GPU usage dropped to about 70%; he estimates only about 160 of those frames were rendered natively.

Why it works

An uncapped GPU runs flat out and stumbles on every spike, like an explosion or a crowded scene. A cap leaves headroom to absorb the spike, which is why the gap between average FPS and 1% lows closes. Generated frames raise the counter, but input latency follows the natively rendered frames, so a Frame Generation number can look better than it plays. He also found its 1% lows feel worse than native DLSS at the same refresh target.

Where it falls apart

One creator. He could not measure Frame Generation latency, because proper photon-latency test kits cost around 500 US dollars and he did not have one, so his latency verdict is feel. He also found Frame Generation blocks frame caps (register B36), so the two methods do not combine cleanly. Season 1 made frame generation toggleable without a restart, so testing both takes a minute.

Map coordinates X75.07 / Y70.94. Reported 23 Aug 2026, Beta 01. Not listed in Season 1 notes; status unknown.

Why it works

Do not do this.

Where it falls apart

Fair play: BUG ABUSE. Going under the map is the archetypal bannable exploit and the enforcement policy covers it explicitly.

B27: Barbed wire removed from the top of stone walls despite the tooltip
SINGLE-SOURCEWinning & TeamplaySINGLE-SOURCE, explicitly unresolvedany, buildernumbers may be staleglitch

Barbed wire was removed from the top of stone walls even though the tooltip still says it is there, and you cannot add it manually.

Numbers

Beta. Unresolved.

Why it works

The tooltip contradicting behaviour is itself a bug.

Where it falls apart

Fair play: HARMLESS QUIRK. RadioGLHF is hedged and asks his audience whether it was reverted.

B28: Destroying a sniper turret's ladder also destroys the floor and sandbags inside
SINGLE-SOURCEWinning & TeamplaySINGLE-SOURCEany, builderpatch risk mediumglitch

Cascading destruction that is almost certainly unintended, and may be how attackers were getting into RadioGLHF's base.

Numbers

Beta. Unknown.

Why it works

Defensive: expect turret corners to be a structural weak point.

Where it falls apart

Fair play: GREY. Knowing it defensively is fine; deliberately using cascading destruction is ordinary combat.

B29: Sniper turrets have a small pass-through gap inside
SINGLE-SOURCEWinning & TeamplaySINGLE-SOURCEany, builderpatch risk mediumglitch

Sniper turrets have a small pass-through gap inside that gives the enemy a private tunnel into your base if you do not block it during construction.

Numbers

Beta. Unknown.

Why it works

Block it while building.

Where it falls apart

Fair play: HARMLESS QUIRK / defensive.

B3: Passengers can open a helicopter's inventory and drop its cargo
SINGLE-SOURCEWinning & TeamplaySINGLE-SOURCE but directly observedany, pilotpatch risk mediumglitchbug-abuse

Any rider can dump the pilot's supply load mid-flight.

Numbers

Beta. No fix listed.

Why it works

Avoid: pilots, do not carry valuable pallets with strangers aboard, or lock the aircraft (L toggles the lock).

Where it falls apart

Fair play: BUG ABUSE to use deliberately. Pure griefing.

B30: Cannot refuel vehicles at your own base
SINGLE-SOURCEWinning & TeamplaySINGLE-SOURCE, overheard chatterany, driverpatch risk mediumglitch

Cannot refuel vehicles at your own base, forcing the crew to request fuel cans. Overheard in operation comms, unresolved on camera.

Numbers

Beta. Unknown.

Why it works

Where it falls apart

Fair play: HARMLESS QUIRK.

B31: Sandbags snap into positions the wardogs.zone planning tool refuses
SINGLE-SOURCEWinning & TeamplaySINGLE-SOURCEany, builderpatch risk mediumglitch

In-game you can snap sandbags into positions the wardogs.zone planning tool refuses, which may be an unintended snap.

Numbers

Beta.

Why it works

Nothing to avoid; the planner is third-party and may simply be conservative.

Where it falls apart

Fair play: HARMLESS QUIRK.

B32: No object placement limit has been hit
SINGLE-SOURCEWinning & TeamplaySINGLE-SOURCE, hedgedany, buildernumbers may be staleglitchbug-abuse

The creator has never reached an object placement limit and blankets whole perimeters with wire on that basis.

Numbers

Beta. Unknown.

Why it works

If an undocumented cap exists this is the claim most likely to be wrong. Unlimited placement may itself be unintended and is a server-performance risk.

Where it falls apart

Fair play: GREY. Mass placement to degrade server performance would be BUG ABUSE; a normal wire perimeter is not.

B33: Missile lock stops engaging for no clear reason
NewSINGLE-SOURCEWinning & TeamplayRadioGLHF (99K views, beta footage 7 Sep), hedged; he does not know the causeany, builderpatch risk mediumglitch

The lock-on of a missile emplacement sometimes stops acquiring a target that should lock.

Numbers

Reported 7 Sep 2026, beta build. No fix listed.

Why it works

Fix: lower your aim off the target and raise it back on; the lock usually re-engages.

Where it falls apart

Fair play: HARMLESS QUIRK. Cause unknown, and the creator says the fix usually works rather than always.

Clipping a minor bump, such as the lip of a bridge, can launch a truck or SUV (one ended up in a river), and the vehicle reposition feature does not recover it.

Numbers

Reported 11 Sep 2026 on the Season 1 build. No fix listed.

Why it works

Avoid: slow down over bridge joins and bumps, especially with cargo aboard. Do not count on reposition.

Where it falls apart

Fair play: HARMLESS QUIRK. Second-hand: it was a squadmate's crash, with both players agreeing reposition failed.

With Nvidia Frame Generation on, neither the in-game limiter nor RTSS would cap frames for the creator, and he does not know why.

Numbers

Reported 11 Sep 2026 on the Season 1 build. Status unknown.

Why it works

Untested workaround: force the cap in the Nvidia Control Panel. Otherwise pick one method; this guide recommends the frame cap over frame generation.

Where it falls apart

Stacking a Hesco block on another fills the bottom section with sandbags for free, and RPG testing found no weakness in the fill.

Numbers

Why it works

Where it falls apart

Fair play: GREY. Free material from a stacking interaction is a classic unintended fill. Imagine Baggins discovered it same-day and is hedged.

C19: Large hammer has a built-in crowbar, and every FOB ships with hammers

The large hammer breaches doors as well as builds, including on looted hammers. Every FOB ships with its own inventory containing a small and a medium hammer, so you never need to buy one and can skip the Medium Hammer unlock entirely.

Numbers

Bypasses a $25,000 unlock. Season 1 moved Large Hammer to Support 8 and raised its unlock to $75,000. Beta. Open.

Why it works

Loot a hammer, or take one from any FOB.

Where it falls apart

Fair play: GREY. The free-hammer-from-any-FOB route bypasses a $25,000 unlock. Expect it to be looked at. Season 1's Large Hammer change makes free-hammer routes more valuable, not less.

Numbers

Roughly half the XP and money of every player aboard. Beta. Open.

Why it works

Sit beside a teammate running AA and tag each helicopter before it dies.

Where it falls apart

Fair play: GREY. Half the value of a whole helicopter load for one scan reads as an unintended interaction. Flagged by the extractor for exactly that reason.

Numbers

Beta. Open.

Why it works

Look over the edge, drop onto the AC units, work down unit by unit; one transition requires going left and a long jump.

Where it falls apart

Fair play: CLEVER PLAY. Using level geometry to descend is movement skill, not an exploit. The silent-escape advantage is real.

C21: Swap factions to re-ambush the same people
SINGLE-SOURCEWinning & TeamplaySINGLE-SOURCEanypatch risk mediumexploit

Numbers

Beta. Open, and faction switching is a supported feature.

Why it works

Where it falls apart

C22: Left-side hits on heavy vehicles almost guarantee a fuel-tank hit

Left-side hits on heavy vehicles almost guarantee a fuel-tank hit, causing a leak and eventual immobilisation.

Numbers

Numbers

IED $300; FOB $7,500. Reported 10 Sep 2026. Unknown; no official FOB health figure exists.

Why it works

Both flagged "Unconfirmed" by the source. May be intended.

Where it falls apart

Fair play: GREY. If a $300 item reliably deletes a $7,500 structure, that is either a deliberate asymmetry or a balance bug. It is not a glitch you would be banned for.

C31: Low Mesh Detail shortens grass and exposes prone players
NewSINGLE-SOURCEWinning & TeamplayIceManIsaac's settings guide (11 Sep), shown in side-by-side footageany, reconpatch risk mediumexploit

On Mesh Detail Low and Potato, ground grass renders noticeably shorter and thinner than on High, so a player hidden prone in grass on High can be visible on Low. IceManIsaac says it has cost him kills.

Numbers

Observed 11 Sep 2026 on the Season 1 build. Not addressed in any patch note.

Why it works

What it exploits: rendering differences between graphics tiers, the same class of advantage as the potato-shadow trick Season 1 closed (A2). Defensively, do not trust tall grass to hide you from someone on low settings. He notes mesh detail sharpens as you aim in, which may shrink the effect at range.

Where it falls apart

Fair play: GREY. Choosing a lower setting is not a bug and nobody is banned for their graphics menu, but the developer already patched the shadow version of this, so expect grass to be normalised.

C32: Circle a helicopter low inside the hotzone for presence pay
NewSINGLE-SOURCEWinning & TeamplayRageGamingVideos (money strategy, 11 Sep, Season 1 build); the $320 [S1] figure matches the $320 [BETA] hotzone tick Wardogs Zone publishedpilotnumbers may be staleexploit

A helicopter circling low inside the hotzone counts you as two players and collects the hotzone presence payout every tick, with nothing else to do.

Step by step

  1. Fly into the hotzone low enough to register as inside it. Climb too high and you drop out of the zone.
  2. Circle inside the circle and take the presence tick as a top-up whenever you are already there for a drop.

Numbers

$320 [S1] per tick in the hotzone, per RageGamingVideos; counted as 2 players. Wardogs Zone gave the same $320 [BETA] hotzone tick before launch.

Why it works

Presence pay counts bodies inside the zone, and no official source says an airborne player is excluded. The altitude limit suggests the zone has a ceiling, which is this guide's reading, not the creator's.

Where it falls apart

Fair play: GREY. No patch note or official source says whether airborne players are meant to count, and one creator reports it. A low, slow helicopter over the most contested ground on the map is the easiest anti-air target there is, so the tick is free only until someone shoots. Whether it also adds to your faction's score count is untested.

NewSINGLE-SOURCEWinning & TeamplayIceManIsaac's settings guide (39K views, 11 Sep, benchmarked on his own rig); GI off and Reflections Low match TheTacticalBritanypatch risk medium

Mesh and Shading Medium, View Distance High, Global Illumination off, Shadows Medium, Reflections Low, Effects and Particle Spawn Rate at the lowest tier, Post-Processing Medium or High, and Motion Blur, Depth of Field, Lens Flare and Bloom off. Tune it in the firing range, not in a match.

Step by step

  1. Open Settings, Video while standing in the firing range, so each change shows immediately.
  2. Display: windowed fullscreen costs nothing on this engine, VSync off, main menu FPS limit off, brightness 110%, sharpness to taste.
  3. Upscaling: start at DLSS Quality. It adds no input latency because it is not frame generation.
  4. Nvidia Reflex: Enabled, not Enabled + Boost, even on a CPU-bound system. Boost gave him inconsistent frame times and worse 1% lows.
  5. Global Illumination off. It costs a lot of frames and can wash the image out.
  6. Shadows Medium. High is not worth the frames; Low jumps between sharp and blocky over a short distance.
  7. View Distance High. It costs little, and lowering it does not make nearby foliage pop in after you aim.
  8. Mesh Detail Low or Medium and Shading Medium or Low. Never Potato for either: it flattens the ground and strips surface detail.
  9. Reflections Low. Potato swaps real reflections for a generic plate and buys only 1-2% more frames.
  10. Effects and Particle Spawn Rate at Potato. He found no visible difference from Max.
  11. Post-Processing Medium or High, Low at minimum. Potato washes the whole map out.
  12. Motion Blur, Depth of Field, Lens Flare and Bloom off. They cost no measurable frames, so this is for clarity.
  13. Under 8GB of VRAM, lower World and Texture quality. Keep Character Effects and Texture Streaming on High on any card.
  14. Picture-in-picture scopes off. Players report 30-50 FPS lost while aiming, and the scope ring hides anything at the edge of your view.

Numbers

Brightness 110%. DLSS Quality internal render: 4K renders at 1440p, 1440p renders at 1080p. Reflections Low to Potato gains 1-2% FPS. PIP scope cost 30-50 FPS while aiming, second-hand rather than his own benchmark. VRAM threshold 8GB.

Why it works

The profile spends frames only where you can see the difference. The settings he drops to the floor showed no visible change in his comparisons; the ones he protects change the whole image for little cost.

Where it falls apart

One creator's rig and taste, and he plays at 4K on a high-end card, so frame costs will be larger on weaker hardware. It disagrees with TheTacticalBrit on view distance and shadows (see the Graphics card). Lower Mesh Detail also shortens grass, which has a visibility side effect logged in the register as C31.

Is the hotzone bonus a hard boundary or does it have proximity falloff?
SINGLE-SOURCEWinning & Teamplaysquad chatter against every other sourceanypatch risk mediumintel

Squad chatter captured in Get Gud with Garen's operation footage has a player saying he is "not close enough to getting the extra money from being inside the zone", which reads as proximity-based rather than binary. Every other source describes a hard in-or-out circle.

Step by step

  1. Stand exactly on the hotzone boundary line and record payouts, then 5 m inside, then 20 m inside.

Numbers

Boundary line, 5 m inside, 20 m inside.

Why it works

If payouts differ between 5 m and 20 m inside, there is falloff and the correct play is to be central, not merely inside. If they are identical, hugging the boundary from behind cover is free value.

Where it falls apart

The source is overheard squad chatter, not a stated mechanic.

Can a third-place faction reliably deny the leader by matching headcount?
SINGLE-SOURCEWinning & TeamplayMetaForge; no creator uses thisany, squad-leaderpatch risk mediumintel

MetaForge says a point tick can be contested by matching the leading faction's player count. No creator uses this. In a three-way with an entrenched leader, a coordinated denial squad that only ever matches the leader's zone headcount would be an entirely unexplored strategy.

Step by step

  1. With a coordinated group, count the leading faction's bodies in the zone (the player counter at the bottom left changes when you enter the hotzone, so it is readable).
  2. Match it exactly, and watch whether the score bar ticks for anyone.

Numbers

A nine-person squad could stall a 33-person faction.

Why it works

If matching produces no point for anybody, denial is cheap and a nine-person squad can stall a 33-person faction.

Yellow alert, red hostiles, blue friendlies, orange damaged vehicle. One source, one video, for a mechanic (a persistent teamwide map marker placeable by any class) that is arguably more valuable than recon spotting for a non-recon player.

Step by step

  1. Buy one of each colour from the tactical tab in the firing range and throw them, with a squadmate watching the map, and record the marker icon and text each produces.

Numbers

Four colours. Five minutes of work to verify or correct the only account of this mechanic in the entire corpus.

Why it works

It is the only described way for a non-recon player to plant a durable teamwide map marker.

The unexplained Kodiak Flatbed nerf
SINGLE-SOURCEWinning & TeamplayMolixatus asked his audience and got no answer in the corpusany, driverpatch risk mediumintel

Moved from Driver 2 to Driver 10 and from $15,000 to $35,000 in one patch, against the trend of every other Driver change (which mostly got cheaper and earlier). Something about a level-2 flatbed truck was worth a double nerf.

Step by step

  1. Compare the Kodiak Flatbed's pallet and cargo capacity against the Ural's, and against the crate capacity of the vehicles that did not get nerfed.

Numbers

Driver 2 to Driver 10; $15,000 to $35,000; comparison against a level-18 truck.

Why it works

If a level-2 vehicle could carry pallet loads comparable to a level-18 truck, the exploit was probably an early-unlock logistics shortcut, and analogous shortcuts may still exist on other early vehicles.

Under-exploited mechanics nobody in the corpus has built a strategy around
SINGLE-SOURCEWinning & Teamplayeach item is one creator's except the firing range map (2 creators), and none are combined by anyoneany, reconpatch risk mediumintel

Six mechanics mentioned once each and never combined into a strategy.

Step by step

  1. The minimap/map zoom sync setting, off by default, mentioned by exactly one creator. Trivial to enable and it removes a constant friction from rotation reading. Test: enable it and see whether the big map inherits minimap zoom.
  2. Weapon zeroing on Page Up / Page Down, mentioned by exactly one creator, and never combined with the map's 100 m grid ranging method from a different creator. Test: range a firing-range target by grid count, dial that zero, and check first-round hit rate against an unzeroed shot.
  3. Spotting an enemy for the whole team requires recon optics, but signal grenades appear to plant a teamwide marker for anyone. If true, a $75-tier [BETA] tactical item duplicates part of the recon role for every class. Test: throw a red signal grenade on an enemy position as a non-recon player and confirm whether non-squad teammates see the marker.
  4. The map hover tooltip shows crate contents. One creator uses this in base; nobody uses it in the field to find the enemy's dropped supplies. Test: hover enemy-side crates and see whether contents are revealed for other factions' drops or only your own.
  5. Positional audio as a targeting tool. iMaTT locates enemies by sound and praises the audio, but no guide builds a listening routine around it. Test: with 3D spatial audio on and proximity unmuted, try clearing a building by sound only and measure how often you correctly call the room.
  6. The firing range's real map. The Beard Guys and DemoMan0351 both say the game ships with a free, private, enemy-free copy of a competitive map, and DemoMan0351 recommends rehearsing FOB builds there; nobody has published a rehearsed tower route. Test: walk southwest until the terrain matches a live map, then time a tower climb and capture sequence.

Numbers

100 m grid ranging; $75-tier tactical item.

Why it works

Each of these is mentioned once in the corpus and never combined with the others; the combinations are where the unexploited value is.

Where it falls apart

Every item here is single-source.

Mobile or garaged: where should the spawn vehicle live?
NewSINGLE-SOURCEWinning & TeamplayLiteralWedgeOfCheese raises it and declines to answer; the 20-point advice in this chapter assumes the forward optiondriver, squad-leaderpatch risk mediumintel

LiteralWedgeOfCheese says a spawn vehicle kept mobile and forward and one kept garaged inside a FOB are both powerful in competent hands, and refuses to call either correct. This chapter's 20-point advice assumes the forward, parked-in-the-zone version, and nobody has measured the difference.

Step by step

  1. Over several matches, log where your faction kept its spawn vehicle: parked in or beside the hotzone, or garaged inside a FOB.
  2. For each, record how long the vehicle survived, how many teammates spawned from it, and how many score ticks your faction took while it was up.
  3. Compare. If garaged vehicles survive much longer with similar spawn counts, the FOB garage is the better default once your team has a base near the zone.

Why it works

The spawn vehicle is the highest-leverage asset a faction gets at 20 points, and the two placements trade survival against distance to the fight.

Where it falls apart

One creator, beta footage, asking his audience rather than asserting anything. He expects aggressive players and builders to split on it. The garaged option needs a FOB close to the zone; the forward option does not.

Map-specific notes
SINGLE-SOURCEWinning & TeamplaySINGLE-SOURCE each, except red's out-of-the-way tower, which SwoleBenji also shows (map unconfirmed)any, buildernumbers may be stale

Three maps exist, with three variations each (Bulkhead devlog, 11 Aug 2026). MetaForge names them Bakurani, Ozeti and Zestafona; MetaForge says towers are confirmed on Bakurani and Ozeti and unclear on Zestafona. Creators use ASR-garbled names, so match them with care.

Step by step

  1. Kavcazi (Get Gud with Garen's rendering): the shipping-container / freight train yard sits between the green and blue tower groups and is good star-fort ground. Red's tower is far to one side. SwoleBenji's launch-day footage shows the same shape on a map he does not name: blue's and green's towers face each other and red's is left alone.
  2. Near Lonestar HQ: two abandoned towers roughly 150 m from the HQ. Take the higher-elevation one to the northeast; the second is 200-300 m directly west of it. With a squadmate, occupy one each for overlapping anti-air coverage. (LiteralWedgeOfCheese, high patch risk, beta.)
  3. The church roof is gone. Any beta guide that recommends it as a build or sniper position is out of date. See the register.

Numbers

Three maps, three variations each; two abandoned towers roughly 150 m from Lonestar HQ, the second 200-300 m directly west of the first.

Why it works

Map knowledge is where the rest of the doctrine gets applied.

Where it falls apart

Every item here is single-source and high patch risk; the tower positions are beta-era.

Mistake 2: insta-respawning and sprinting at the nearest gunshot
SINGLE-SOURCEWinning & Teamplayanypatch risk low

Insta-respawning and sprinting at the nearest gunshot. Open the map first and decide where your faction needs a body. This is not team deathmatch.

Why it works

Presence where your faction needs it is what scores, not proximity to the nearest fight.

Sources

Mistake 4: chasing the hotzone out of cover
SINGLE-SOURCEWinning & Teamplayanypatch risk low

Chasing the hotzone out of cover. Holding a strong position on the edge of the zone beats standing in its exact centre and dying.

Why it works

A dead body in the centre of the circle scores nothing; a living one on the edge does.

Mistake 7: stepping straight out of the spawn vehicle after teleporting in
SINGLE-SOURCEWinning & Teamplayanypatch risk medium

Stepping straight out of the spawn vehicle after teleporting in. Hold F1, swap to the driver seat, check third person first.

Why it works

The deploy countdown is dead time that makes spawn camping effective against you.

Mistake 9: pressing C to repack mags that are already nearly full
SINGLE-SOURCEWinning & Teamplayanypatch risk low

Pressing C to repack mags that are already nearly full. It cannibalises one mag into another.

Why it works

The repack always fills the top-left magazine first and reads the grid like a book.

Mistake 11: muting proximity permanently
SINGLE-SOURCEWinning & Teamplayanypatch risk low

Muting proximity permanently. You lose positional audio as an information source.

Why it works

Positional audio and local chat are good enough to locate enemies by sound.

Mistake 13: capturing a tower and not posting the code digit
SINGLE-SOURCEWinning & Teamplayany, squad-leaderpatch risk medium

Capturing a tower and not posting the code digit. The digit is worthless alone. Type it in team chat immediately.

Numbers

One digit per tower.

Why it works

The code only moves the hotzone once your faction holds every digit.

Mistake 17: solo-sniping from a tower top
SINGLE-SOURCEWinning & Teamplayany, reconpatch risk low

Solo-sniping from a tower top. Nobody will revive you up there.

Why it works

Roof and tower sniping is a two-person job.

Pilots: ferry people early, then switch to supplies once the spawn vehicle is up
NewSINGLE-SOURCEWinning & TeamplayLoknik (28K views, post-launch 11 Sep); the match-phase timing is his alone; RageGamingVideos separately backs flying supplies when passengers are scarcepilotpatch risk medium

Early in a match a pilot's job is moving people and helping FOBs go up. Once HQ passenger traffic dries up and the MSV is running, stop waiting at spawn and fly supplies: drill fuel first if your team is pulling the hotzone, then ammo and meds to the front.

Step by step

  1. Early game: shuttle players from HQ to the zone and help the first FOBs get built.
  2. Watch for the turn: fewer people asking for rides at HQ, fewer friendly pilots in the air, and the MSV operational. Loknik calls this the point of no return.
  3. From then on, fly logistics. Check the map before every run.
  4. If your team has a drill, fuel that FOB before anything else. More fuel in the stockpile keeps the pulled hotzone in place longer.
  5. Otherwise carry ammo and meds to the teammates who are actually fighting.
  6. Change the load when the need changes. If you planned another pallet of build supplies but the drill is dry or the front is out of ammo, fly that instead.

Numbers

None given. MSV is Loknik's term and he never spells it out; it most likely means the mobile spawn vehicle, the APC that appears at 20 points. That reading is this guide's, not his.

Why it works

A pilot who lands the prettiest hotzone drop still makes one delivery. A pilot who keeps a drill fuelled and a front supplied keeps a whole team in the zone longer. Loknik's test for a good pilot is being in the right place with the right supplies when the team needs them, not landing skill.

Where it falls apart

One creator, one video, and the phase marker is his personal cue rather than a game event. If your team never gets a spawn vehicle out, passenger demand at HQ never drops and ferrying stays the better job. Match the load to what the map shows, not to this sequence. RageGamingVideos (pre-launch footage) backs the logistics half from a different angle: in the opening days there were too many pilots for too few passengers, so pilots wanted a reliable builder to supply. That supports flying supplies when ride demand is thin, not Loknik's match-phase cue, so the tier stays single-source.

Signal grenade colour codes
SINGLE-SOURCEWinning & Teamplayanypatch risk medium

Signal grenades: yellow alert, red hostiles, blue friendlies, orange damaged vehicle. They plant a persistent teamwide map marker.

Numbers

Four colours: yellow, red, blue, orange.

Why it works

The only described way for a non-recon player to put durable information on the whole faction's map.

Read the scoreboard before you pick a fight
SINGLE-SOURCEWinning & TeamplayAbneyDude, 90K views; Silk adds a separate scoreboard read that does not corroborate the core claimany, squad-leaderpatch risk low

In a three-way, attacking second place while the leader runs away with it is the most common strategic error there is. Check the score before committing. Other than the hotzone sitting on a tower, there is usually no reason to be where a losing faction is attacking.

Numbers

Silk's threshold: more than 33 players from one faction counted in the zone.

Why it works

Related mechanic, same creator: if one faction is relentlessly harassing you for no apparent reason, check whether their mobile spawner is parked near you. Randoms attack whatever is closest to their fastest respawn. That runs both ways: where you park your spawn vehicle determines what your own randoms will fight. A second read, from Silk (137K views, post-launch): after sweeping enemy FOBs, check the zone counts on the scorecard. More than 33 from one faction suggests players are in the hotzone; a lower count means they are sitting near their FOBs. If the scorecard shows the doubled hotzone presence, a count above 33 is only possible with bodies in the hotzone, since a faction has about 33 players. That is this guide's inference, not something Silk says.

Where it falls apart

This is one creator's read from 35 beta hours, and "attack the leader" is not free. Attacking the leader means attacking the faction with the most bodies and the best position. If you are third, denial is cheap; if you are second, a bad attack on first hands the tick to third. Silk's threshold is high patch risk: it assumes full 33-player factions.

Signal grenade colour codes
SINGLE-SOURCEWinning & Teamplayjackfrags, 228K views, demonstrated on screen; SwoleBenji confirms smoke is used as a team signal but not the colour codeanypatch risk medium

Signal grenades live in the tactical tab. They emit coloured smoke at the location and simultaneously plant a persistent marker on every teammate's map, which is far more durable than a voice callout or an ordinary ping.

Numbers

Yellow = alert / attention here. Red = hostiles. Blue = friendlies. Orange = damaged vehicle.

Why it works

The mechanic itself (smoke plus persistent teamwide map marker) is the part worth acting on: it is the only described way for a non-recon player to put durable information on the whole faction's map.

Where it falls apart

This is the only account of the colour code in the entire corpus, from one creator, so treat the exact mapping as unconfirmed even though the channel is large and the video is demonstrated on screen. From practice: SwoleBenji (launch day) describes smoke as the signal that tells resupply pilots a base needs supplies, and says most players ignore it; asking in chat worked better for him. Throw the smoke and say it in chat.

Play a few matches as a pure spotter to learn the map
NewSINGLE-SOURCEWinning & TeamplayTwinsticks & Ties (19.1K views, post-launch 12 Sep)recon, anypatch risk low

Spending matches only spotting teaches you the map faster than fighting, because you watch the whole battlefield instead of a gun sight. Treat it as a training block that also earns cash and recon XP, not a permanent role.

Step by step

  1. Take recon optics and set up somewhere safe with a wide view, ideally near a tower your team holds.
  2. Spot, and note what repeats: sniper nests, infantry push lanes, where medics set up, how logistics approach the objective, where helicopters appear, where enemies cross open ground.
  3. When your team drags the hotzone toward your position, stay put. The objective and the doubled payouts come to you.
  4. After about an hour, expect boredom. That is when you move when you should not and take a bad angle. Stop, or relocate deliberately.
  5. Go back to normal play and use what you learned.

Numbers

About an hour before boredom started costing the creator. No payout figures given.

Why it works

The creator's argument is that information beats another gun. A spot turns one observer into value for every shooter on the team, and the side effect is map and class knowledge you would not collect while looking down a sight.

Where it falls apart

Single creator. Spotting has diminishing returns once several teammates do it (Gigabeef, see the pings card), and a pure spotter usually carries no armour, so one lapse of patience is a death. The boredom risk is the creator's own warning.

Link Steam and Twitch to claim beta Twitch drops into your vault
NewSINGLE-SOURCEWinning & TeamplayHudi (wipe guide, 49.7K views, 9 Sep, the day before launch)anypatch risk medium

If you earned Twitch drops during the betas, link your Steam and Twitch accounts at account.wardogs.com. The drops were held back for server stability and are meant to land in your vault at launch.

Step by step

  1. Go to account.wardogs.com and link both your Steam and Twitch accounts.
  2. Launch the game and open the vault. Hudi says it exists for everyone from day one and is simply empty if you have no drops.
  3. Check the vault before you buy a kit the drops already cover.

Numbers

8 drop items: triage kit, first aid kit, assault loadout, demolition kit, dune buggy, RPG kit, ghillie suit, sniper kit.

Why it works

A free kit is cash you do not spend, and several of these (the RPG kit, the ghillie suit, the sniper kit) are things new players otherwise buy early.

Where it falls apart

One creator, recorded before launch, describing a plan rather than a delivery he had seen. Nobody in the corpus confirms the drops arrived. The economy chapter treats the Vault as a roadmap feature, so check your own vault rather than trusting either account.

Drill farming over your own base: the $1,000,000 [BETA] match claim
NewUNVERIFIEDWinning & TeamplaySwoleBenji (17K views, launch-day video describing beta play) alone; no match total shown on screensupport, buildernumbers may be stale

SwoleBenji says he has made up to $1,000,000 [BETA] in one match by activating a mining drill, which drags the hotzone onto it, then building more drills while standing inside the doubled-value zone. The method is plausible. The figure is not verified.

Step by step

  1. Build at a base your team already defends, not a lone FOB in open ground.
  2. Build a drill and activate it. The hotzone moves to the drill.
  3. Keep building drills inside the hotzone, where build payouts double.
  4. Keep fuel and supply drops coming. Holding the zone over your base lasts only as long as the team keeps resupplying it.
  5. If you cannot hold it, build and activate one drill anyway and move on. SwoleBenji calls even that pure profit.

Numbers

Up to $1,000,000 [BETA] claimed for one match, with no on-screen total. Wardogs Building Community runs four drill rigs at one base so their separate cooldowns overlap. No per-drill build payout for Season 1 is published anywhere in the corpus.

Why it works

It stacks the two strongest effects in the scoring loop: the hotzone's 2x payout on everything you do, and a defended position the enemy has to cross open ground to contest. If drill cooldowns are independent per rig, a base with several drills can keep the zone sitting on itself.

Where it falls apart

Unverified for three reasons: one creator, no match total shown, and a launch-day video that describes beta experience. Season 1 tripled the FOB price to $7,500 [S1] (was $2,500 [BETA]), which eats into any beta profit figure. It also depends on the unresolved drill-cooldown question: if drills share a timer, extra drills add build payouts but no extra pulls.

Does faction uniform camouflage measurably change detection range?
UNVERIFIEDWinning & TeamplayAbneyDude's claim is the only mechanical faction advantage anyone alleges, and nobody has tested itany, reconnumbers may be staleintel

AbneyDude's claim that Manticore is camouflaged against ~90% of the map is the only mechanical faction advantage anyone alleges, and nobody has tested it.

Step by step

  1. Use the firing range, which contains one of the real maps (The Beard Guys, verify this first).
  2. Have three players, one per faction, stand prone in the same piece of terrain at 100 m, 300 m, 500 m and 800 m while an observer with a fixed optic attempts to spot each.
  3. Repeat on grass, on rock, in the container yard and in a built-up area. Count first-detection time.
  4. Second test: the same setup with a thermal or IR device, since the wiki lists IR goggles.

Numbers

~90% of the map; test ranges 100 m, 300 m, 500 m and 800 m.

Why it works

If Manticore's detection time is materially longer at 300 m and beyond, the claim is real and recon-heavy players have a genuine reason to pick green. If IR equalises detection, the camouflage advantage is a pre-IR-unlock advantage only, which would put a level cap on it.

Where it falls apart

Depends on The Beard Guys' firing-range-contains-a-real-map claim being true; verify that first.

Does the tower code persist across a tower being recaptured?
UNVERIFIEDWinning & Teamplaynobody in the corpus saysany, squad-leaderpatch risk mediumintel

Every source describes collecting one digit per tower, but nobody says what happens if the enemy recaptures a tower after you have its digit. Does your faction lose the digit? Does the code reset?

Step by step

  1. Capture a tower, confirm you have the digit, deliberately let the enemy recapture it.
  2. Check whether your digit is still listed and whether the full-code entry still works.

Numbers

One digit per tower.

Why it works

If digits persist after loss, sweeping every tower once early is strictly correct and holding them afterwards is optional, which would substantially change tower doctrine.

Where it falls apart

Gigabeef lists "denying the enemy that tower's code" as a reason to hold towers, which implies capture grants the digit to the capturing faction, but not whether it is revoked.
